About Allies to Rescue and Support Refugees

The UNHCR most recently estimated that, by the end of 2020, for the first time in recorded history, the number of people forcibly displaced is now 82.4 million, and over 26.4 million refugees. That number is now even greater in 2021. Equally as concerning, refugees stay in refugee camps, on average, for 17 years, according to a 2019 study by World Bank. We find these statistics deeply concerning, and were troubled by the stagnation and lack of opportunity for growth in these camps. We decided to create an innovative solution: eco-villages and community centers. These villages address more than just the physiological base needs for refugee survival. Their goal is to empower refugees to nurture and build their communities wherever they are, by nurturing and developing the skills the refugees already have. Through our community centers and eco-villages, refugees will have the resources they need to share their culture with the world, develop their own businesses and livelihoods, and provide shelter and physiological needs to their families and communities. Equally as important, our community centers and eco-villages are a place where community, belonging, personal growth, and safety are fostered. Refugees have a wealth of knowledge, skills, life experience, and hope to give. Our mission is to connect them to the world and their community so that they can support themselves and become independent by sharing these skills. We need your help to accomplish this mission!
