About ALPS Language School
ALPS is an English as a Second Language school with a friendly, family-like atmosphere. We are located on Capitol Hill - near downtown Seattle. May 2022 marks our 30th year in business. Our personalized approach to meeting students' learning needs ensures that our students improve their language skills quickly and are well prepared for the next steps in their academic or professional careers. We welcome students from over 30 countries of origin each year. ALPS’ modular menu of classes lets students create a personalized program, with hours ranging from part-time to super-intensive. Training lasts anywhere from a week to a year. Our course menu includes classes such as intensive speaking, listening, reading, and writing courses; intensive TOEFL and IELTS preparation; job search preparation; workforce training; and many others. ALPS stands for Accelerated Language Performance System. Since 1992 our system of small group classes and private classes that fit the individual goals of each student has enabled students to reach their English language goals faster. Our group classes are limited to 8 students. Often there are 3-5 students. Private lessons are offered as part of some course combinations and are also available as stand-alone classes. Our commitment to individual attention speeds the language learning process. Our national accreditation assures the quality of our courses, which can be delivered either in-person or online. Our partnerships with local institutions of higher learning offer clear pathways for our academically bound students. People who relocate to the Seattle area find language support, cultural integration and a strong, supportive community at our school. Our workforce offerings support the needs of individuals and companies. We also supervise a vibrant activity program that organizes local excursions and gets students out to explore the city of Seattle and experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
