About Alternate Reality Initiative
The Alternate Reality Initiative was created to unite students interested in learning about virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality at the University of Michigan. In addition, we educate students about the resources available on campus that can help students craft their own vision, and connect them to the great VR/AR/MR industry ecosystem. After witnessing the lack of a centralized community, the Alternate Reality Initiative strives to provide a hub for students who are curious about the VR/AR/MR field, but have no idea on where to start or how. By establishing this organization, we hope to shed light on the numerous VR/AR/MR technologies that are underutilized on campus and provide a springboard to people looking to gain insight on a rapidly advancing industry. Whether it’s wanting to try out virtual reality for the first time or finding a group to help develop a project, the Alternate Reality Initiative aims to become the premier virtual, augmented, and mixed reality organization for college students in the Midwest.
