We roast, sell and distribute artisan freshly roasted certified organic and fair-trade coffees with a retail space/cafe offering vegetarian light fare, organic teas/chocolates/coffees and other fairly/ethically traded products located in the Roncesvalles strip in Toronto's West-end. At Alternative Grounds, we began roasting fairly traded coffees in 1995 and became one of one of the first licensees of Fair-Trade Mark Canada in 1998, an independent fair-trade licensing and regulatory body. We are also members of Cooperative Coffees, an organization that brings together small scale roasters and sellers of fair-trade coffees in Canada and the United States who collectively buy green coffee beans directly from small scale coffee producers/cooperatives in the global South. At Alternative Grounds, we offer a wide variety of coffee origins and signature blends. We love our beans and that means we roast them every day so our offerings rotate daily. Please note that each roast is tailored to enhance the particular characteristics of the bean being roasted, highlighting the unique flavours and body inherent in each bean.
