About AltFinance

AltFinance: Investing in Black Futures is a 10-year, $90 million initiative established by Apollo Global Management, Inc., Ares Management Corporation, and Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. to help diversify the financial services industry. With the establishment of a fellowship program, scholarship funding, and a virtual institute, AltFinance is providing clear pathways for students at partnering Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) into careers in the alternative investment industry. The AltFinance Fellowship Program is helping ambitious students learn about finance and alternative investments, receive one-on-one mentorship, obtain scholarship funding to pursue professional and academic goals, and access internships and full-time jobs at alternative investment firms. Furthermore, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania is partnering with AltFinance to create a virtual institute so that more students will benefit from AltFinance’s work in years to come. The Institute provides a best-in-class virtual platform that will scale to all HBCU students and provide a robust mix of top-tier academic content from finance programs and a supplemental learning experience. Launched in June 2021, in year one, AltFinance fellows moved closer to learning about a career in the alternative investment industry and how to navigate a successful career in the finance field. Nearly 70% of fellows are now part of the pipeline to careers in finance through summer internships at alternative investment firms or investment banks.
