About Alzheimer Society Cochrane Temiskaming

The Alzheimer Society of Cochrane - Temiskaming exists to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer Disease and related disorders and to promote research. We are a not for profit organization dedicated to helping people affected by Alzheimer Disease. Care and support is central to what we do. We strive to improve the quality of life for those affected by Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia. The Alzheimer Society of Cochrane - Temiskaming was founded by a group of family caregivers in 1988 under the leadership of Monica Bevil. We are a non profit corporation and registered charity governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by membership at the Annual General Meeting held in June each year. The Society is operated and managed by a staff team of full- and part-time employees who are responsible for the design and implementation of family support and education services. The Society receives funding from the Ministry of Health, community donations and memorials. Research support dollars are raised through fundraising organized by the Society. The Alzheimer Society of Cochrane - Temiskaming, through its affiliation with the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and the Alzheimer Society of Canada, maintains an active role in supporting the growth and development of the Alzheimer movement. Our dedicated Board, Staff and Volunteers work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Previously known as the Alzheimer Society Timmins-Porcupine District Inc.
