Purpose: The purpose of the American College of Music is to provide an exceptional graduate education to music educators via an online environment that strives for the advancement of knowledge, musicianship and inquiry. Mission and Objectives: The American College of Music is a private online graduate college committed to developing passionate educators, reflective scholars as well as life-long learning. The college provides heuristic, hands-on knowledge as well as student centered, research-based instruction. ACM's graduates are ready to live, adapt, and lead in an every-changing, interconnected world. Through the process of teaching and learning, the American College of Music endeavors to achieve the following: • To assist students to understand the history, philosophy and instruction of music. • To empower students to experience the ineffability of performance, facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and recognize the meaning of aesthetics. • To promote learner-centered pedagogy, critical thinking, and problem solving as the framework for personal development. • To create a musical community that is rich with cultural, social, and intellectual diversity. Authorization: American College of Music is a private institution approved to operate by the Arizona Board for Private Postsecondary Education (AZPPSE). Approval to operate means compliance with state standards as set forth in Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S. §32-3001).
