About American Indian Center of Arkansas
The American Indian Center of Arkansas is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit Urban Indian organization located in Little Rock, Arkansas, governed by a Native American / Alaska Native board of directors, providing for the maximum participation of all interested Indian groups and Native American / Alaska Native individuals living in Arkansas. The American Indian Center of Arkansas has operated continuously since 1977. AICA resources available: The ACE Program stands for Accessing Choices in Education. ACE provides Native American youth in grades K-12 with access to an abundance of resources by partnering with organizations that provide a range of academic, career-driven, cultural, and mental health services Native Connections helps American Indian and Alaska Native communities identify and address the behavioral health needs of Native youth by reducing suicidal behavior, mental illness, substance abuse, and trauma, and helping our youth transition into adulthood. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program at the American Indian Center of Arkansas provides employment assistance to Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians living in the state of Arkansas. The employment services offered by WIOA include career counseling, job referrals, assistance with job placement, financial assistance for education and training, and other supportive services necessary to achieve economic self-sufficiency. The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a part-time program for all low-income persons aged 55 and over who have poor employment prospects. Program participants receive assignments at community and government agencies and are paid the Federal or State minimum wage, whichever is higher. Participants may also receive assistance in developing job search skills and in locating a permanent job. Participants are placed in non-profit or public service-type host agencies.
