About American Interventional Headache Society

The American Interventional Headache Society™ (AIHS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) national professional organization working for the benefit of people suffering from intractable headache, neck, and face pain that is not responding to conventional treatment. There is a big gap in the education and training of both patients and health care providers about multimodal interventional treatment options for the treatment of medically resistant head, neck, and face pain. Patients and health care providers must be adequately trained and educated to identify and implement appropriate multimodal interventional treatment options for medically refractory or treatment resistant head, neck, and face pain. AIHS values expertise and the full range of knowledge and skills that are needed for the achievement of its objectives. It is founded by an international expert in interventional headache management, Samer Narouze, MD, PhD. The board of directors has world renowned headache and pain experts with diverse backgrounds (neurology, internal medicine, pain medicine, anesthesiology, and neurosurgery). Our purpose is to raise awareness, promote, and advance interventional headache, neck and orofacial pain science through research, education, and advanced patient care.
