About American Muslim Society for Science, Engineering, and Medicine

Studying His creation is our worship, and our unity is our strength. The American Muslim Society for Science, Engineering, and Medicine (AMSSEM) is a national initiative dedicated to uniting and empowering Muslim scientists, engineers, physicians, researchers, and students across the country. Founded by a student at Penn State and supported by a growing network of believers, AMSSEM creates a space where faith and science coexist, where Muslim professionals are uplifted, and where the pursuit of ʿilm (knowledge) is honored as an act of ʿibadah (worship). Rooted in the belief that excellence in science and medicine is not only compatible with Islam but inspired by it, AMSSEM supports the next generation of Muslim minds through mentorship, collaboration, and community. Members gain access to cross-institution networking, research and publication opportunities, conference and grant alerts, and panels featuring Muslim professionals in STEM. For students, AMSSEM offers mentorship, research and shadowing opportunities, and a support system grounded in both academic excellence and spiritual identity. Whether in a lab, clinic, or classroom, those who see their intellect as a gift from Allah and their work as service to His creation will find a home in AMSSEM.
