About American Red Cross Willamette Chapter
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The American Red Cross offers compassionate services in several areas including: domestic disaster relief; support and comfort for military members and their families; the collection, processing, and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs. More than a million Red Cross volunteers and employees annually mobilize relief to families affected by more than 70,000 disasters, train almost 12 million people in lifesaving skills, and exchange more than a million emergency messages for U.S. military service personnel and their families. The Red Cross is also the largest supplier of blood and blood products to more than 3,000 hospitals across the nation and also assists victims of international disasters and conflicts at locations worldwide.
