Amitié, the French word for friendship, is the root of the organization. A group of friends from high school found themselves affected by a classmate's suicide decades later. Together they wanted to do more. We've been giving free suicide prevention/awareness seminars at New Orleans area high schools since 2003. We offer an annual scholarship to high school students and plan to build an intervention center in the future.
