Anchor Foster Care was established in 2002, co-founded by two qualified Social Workers who are still serving as Managing Directors. The founders had a passion to provide the right kind of support to foster carers and their families to enable them to provide a consistent level of care for children and young people who could not live with their birth parents. Anchor Foster Care, is a local not-for-profit family run fostering agency that solely focuses on providing safety, stability and hope to all children and young people. We were recognised by Ofsted in January 2105 as having “developed strengths in placement stability which compares favourably with other independent fostering agencies. For the last three years the percentage of unplanned endings was below the national average, and so far this year the figure stands at 1%. Almost half of the agency's long-term placements have lasted over two years, and half of those are longer than five years. As a result, children and young people experience stability and security, form positive attachments with their carers’ and are enabled to develop to their full potential.” We recruit all kinds of foster carers, even those that can only commit to giving full time carers a short break occasionally. Carers are fully supported and trained to manage different kinds of children and young people who have experienced difficult circumstances in their lives, such as a family bereavement, separation, disability, illness, or abuse.
