Step into the realm of Ancient Well Entertainment, or AWE, a Swedish game development studio forged in 2023 with a burning passion for sharing the awe-inspiring folklore and culture of the North. Our games are not just about towering mountains clad in thick fog, ancient spectral whispers, and mischievous big-nosed creatures – they are gateways to epic adventures, blending history, fantasy, and the thunderous beats of heavy metal! We aim to keep the gaming experience fun and engaging, with a soul burning for authentic lore. In 2023, our journey began after triumphing at the Great Summer Pitch in Karlstad, hosted by The Great Journey. Thanks to the faith put in our vision by the panel of judges from the Swedish game industry, we had the confidence to build a team and start building a prototype for our maiden venture, "Defenders of the Fjord,". Having built our prototype, our confidence was boosted again when we also won the Great Winter Pitch 2023 at Karlstad Innovation Park. “Defenders of the Fjord” is a third-person tower defense game that unfolds in a mythical Nordic realm in the “playground of history”. Join the good-natured Thrivelings as they stand united against a looming darkness set to claim their homeland fjord. Brace yourself for an immersive experience where strategy meets mythology. The first demo is targeted for release in 2024. Ancient Well Entertainment is a close-knit team of 10, with our headquarters nestled in Årjäng, Värmland. A significant part of our creative force operates remotely from Oslo, Norway, infusing our projects with the dynamic energy of two Nordic hubs.
