About Angels' Care

Angels' Care was established by concerned residents in the Umngeni Municipal area to address the needs of desperately poor residents from the local informal settlements. Our main objective is supporting the children. We have taken a comprehensive approach to this; through the provision of pre-school education, aftercare facilities, our daily feeding scheme, and health care programs - including a crisis centre for women and children who are victims of rape, gender-based violence, neglect, sexual assault, and abuse. We are continually developing our facilities and finding new effective ways to provide much-needed help. Recognizing the impact sustained nutrition can have on developing communities, we run an essential daily feeding program for impoverished families and children. During the COVID-19 Pandemic we have been feeding 350 children daily (2100 food parcels a week), as well as sending 120 -150 weekly family food parcels each week. As a result of generous donations, we have been able to acquire our own premises. These consist of a 100-year-old house purchased in 2009, a caretakers cottage and 3 new classrooms constructed in 2010. Our crisis centre was developed in 2015. Our rape crisis facility dedicated to supporting the women and children who fall victim to domestic abuse and sexual assault. With a full-time nurse and social worker, we can ensure cases are opened, medical examinations completed & vital DNA evidence is collected. We strive to restore dignity to survivors and are on hand to offer emotional counseling whenever it is needed.
