About Animal Welfare Agency UK
The Animal Welfare Agency (AWA) is a Community Interest Company (CIC), established in October 2020. We work to ensure positive animal welfare standards, as required by law, are being met by organisations with animals in their care. AWA establishes relationships through intervention, monitoring and encouraging organsations to take advantage of our accreditation system. We work collaboratively with other organisations to conduct onsite inspections, providing support and advice to improve welfare. Where welfare is compromised and improvements have not been met we aim to enforce their obligation under law. Ensuring animal welfare standards are being met is an under regulated area, which desperately needs additional help from organisations such as AWA.
