About Animals of Appalachia

Animals of Appalachia is a family ran, non-profit located in Northeast Tennessee. We focus on conservation and conservation education for our region and beyond. Birthed out of a passion for caring for animals and a desire to change how animals were kept AoA hopes to change how the next generation looks at the world around them. Our passion brought life to “Not Your Normal” Animal Rescue, an exotic animal rescue. Cats and dogs are taken in a cared for by shelters, humane societies, and fosters. They are placed in homes and cared for, but reptiles, rodents, birds, and other exotics… where do they go? Released into nature and sometimes thrown away. We seek to change that with no shame and no fees Not Your Normal Animal Rescue takes everything except cats and dogs and seeks to rehome them as well as educate the new caregivers about the needs of their new friend.
