When I first landed in Dubai in the late 1980s, I couldn’t have imagined that one day I’d be guiding U.S. companies and economic development leaders through the maze (and magic) of doing business in the Arab Gulf. Back then, Dubai was a city of souks and a single iconic tower. Fast forward a few decades, and I’ve learned—sometimes the hard way—that what seems ambitious here is usually just a preview of what’s next.
