About Anthoninos Taverna
Anthonino’s Taverna opened in 2004 owned by brothers Anthony and Rosario Scarato. The restaurant is a blend of Italian and Greek cuisines. Growing up -- "just a little south of here, they attended the Saint Joan of Arc parish" -- before the family moved to the Lindbergh school district. “The boys” began in the industry very young working for their father, Robert “Bob” Scarato who in the early 1980's with the support of his loving wife, “Fifi” and father in law, “Ernie” opened Athens Cafe, a quick-service Greek restaurant with multiple locations. Since then, both brothers have been invested in the culinary community. Rosario and Anthony both have degrees from the top-rated culinary program at St. Louis Community College. Anthony added a business degree from Saint Louis University. When opening “Anthonino’s Taverna the Scarato’s drew from the heritages of both their mother, who was born in Greece, and their father whose parents immigrated from Italy. Many of the recipes are for dishes they grew up eating. They would like to thank their wives Katie and Cindy, their families and staff on creating and maintaining this wonderful establishment. “We look forward to continuing a legacy that is truly an asset to the community and city.”
