About Anti-Corruption Law Program
The Anti-Corruption Law Program (ACLP) offers professional education programming to provide a fertile setting for learning and informed discussion on the role of the law in the global fight against corruption. ORIGINS AND PURPOSE The ACLP was founded in 2016 as a collaborative effort between the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia, Transparency International Canada, and the International Centre for Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice Policy (now represented by the Vancouver Anti-Corruption Institute. Together, we identified that sophisticated ongoing professional education in anti-corruption was underdeveloped, and rigorous applied research was severely lacking. Legal practitioners, financial services professionals, law enforcement officials, public policy makers, and business people needed a public learning forum where they could jointly cultivate a deeper understanding of how to use the law to combat corruption. The ACLP was created to meet this need. Our partners in education include domestic and international private organizations, NGOs, and government agencies, all of whom share a wealth of skills and experience in anti-corruption research, scholarship, teaching, raising awareness, and advocating for the adoption of effective measures to fight corruption in Canada and abroad. By pooling these invaluable resources, we demonstrate how collective action can support the global anti-corruption movement. OUR PROGAMMING Our seminars and other events examine anti-corruption from an ever-increasing number of perspectives, but always with the educational objective of bringing together experts from multiple disciplines to identify and promote best practices, policies, and enforcement strategies for fighting corruption. As the information exchanged between our panelists, speakers, and registrants represents a vast repository of research and knowledge on the subject, recordings of many of these events are available on our website.
