About ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions
ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions (ICEDS): Connecting people with climate, energy & disaster-risk research from The Australian National University. Our goal is to advance innovative solutions to address climate change, energy system transitions and disasters. We draw on the wealth of expertise at ANU and connect that expertise with governments, businesses, the media and the community. We facilitate integrated approaches to research, teaching and policy engagement across disciplines and lead the ANU Below Zero Initiative, which is working to reduce ANU greenhouse gas emissions to below zero. The Institute consolidates and builds on the activities of the former ANU Climate Change Institute, Energy Change Institute, and Disaster Risk Science Institute. Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia Pacific In 2018 a team led by then ANU Energy Change Institute won the University’s Grand Challenge Scheme, receiving $10 million in funding over five years for the Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia-Pacific project. Led by Professor Frank Jotzo, Head of Energy at ICEDS, the Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia-Pacific team is truly interdisciplinary. The project involves researchers from five of the ANU Colleges (College of Science, College of Asia and the Pacific, College of Law, College of Engineering and Computer Science and College of Arts and Social Sciences). Visit the central Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia-Pacific page (https://www.anu.edu.au/zerocarbon) or follow on LinkedIn to see how this research initiative will support a timely, just and sustainable transition to zero-carbon energy in the Asia-Pacific.
