Aotearoa Credit Union was first established in 1989 and is a community organisation owned by its Members. We are a member of the New Zealand Association of Credit Unions, which represents the majority of Credit Unions in NZ; we are also registered under the Friendly Societies and Credit Unions Act (1981). Perpetual Trust Ltd supervises and monitors the operations of Aotearoa Credit Union to ensure the appropriate financial ratios and practices are maintained, as set out in the Trust Deed. As a Credit Union, we’re here to help people, not to make a profit. Any surpluses are retained either to improve our services / products and/or returned to our members by way of interest or reduced lending rates and fees. Everyone is welcome to join Aotearoa Credit Union. Our members include individuals, families, employees and beneficiaries, and come from all ethnic groups including; Europeans, Asians, Pacific Islanders and Maori. At Aotearoa Credit Union we provide Savings Accounts, Term Investments and Personal Loans. We are the fastest growing Credit Union in New Zealand with a total membership of approx. 18,500. At least 90% of our new business comes via referrals from existing members. We have a total of eleven branches in the following areas; Glen Innes, Otara, Otahuhu, Papatoetoe, Mangere, Clendon, Papakura, Whangarei, Hamilton, Wanganui and Porirua.
