About Appalachian Center For Independent Living
Appalachian Center for Independent Living (ACIL) is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to live with independence, dignity, and inclusion. Serving Kanawha, Boone, Putnam and Clay counties, and surrounding areas, ACIL provides a wide range of services including independent living skills training, employment training and placement, transportation services, peer support, advocacy, information and referral to community resources. We are here to guide Consumers through the transition process including youth ages 14-21 as they prepare for college, career/trade or living independently for the first time, adults ready to make the step toward living independently in the community or seniors wanting to remain in their homes rather than a nursing facility. Our mission at ACIL is to remove barriers, promote equal opportunities, and ensure individuals have the resources and support they need to thrive in their communities. Through collaboration, education, and direct services, ACIL helps individuals with disabilities achieve their goals and lead self-directed lives.
