Archidgs is the bridge between architecture and sustainable development goals. Archidgs aims to showcase, encourage and engage with architectural projects that serve the development sector. Brief: The current time and critical circumstances imposed by the outburst of the Covid-19 pandemic, have led to creating unprecedented disruptions and changes in our lives and economies. Health systems world wide have crashed and people’s livelihood has been drastically affected, leading to a new normal in all aspects of our lives. Architecture and Urban Planning are to play a major role in creating this new normal. Mission: Archidgs seeks to leverage on Architecture as a power tool to lead a transformation in the two worlds of Architecture and Development. Architecture comes with great power and great responsibility and it is now time to utilise those elements to benefit people through their life challenges and to strive for a better future. There is not a single moment in our lives that is not influenced one way or another by the architecture of the living spaces and we have the collective responsibility to leverage on that to save lives and improve livelihoods. The world needs more developmental projects backed with the knowledge and unique findings that architects and urban planners have acquired over the years. The COVID-19 pandemic called the attention to the developmental side of architecture in light of the challenges faced today and the new normal that is shaping. In a world where poverty and social inequality are creating hardships for billions of individuals, we see the need to be of use to those in need by offering and showcasing creative ways in which architecture could give them a helping hand.
