About Areo

Areo was founded in 2006 to commercialize photorealistic rendering research begun in 2000. We have an experienced research, production, hardware engineering and project management team who have developed photogrammetric tools for use in many industries. Having started out as a gaming developer, Areo have produced multiple award winning computer games by recreating real life (3D) environments. It is the accuracy of these “real-life” environments that has seen the company develop photogrammetry software for industry, enabling surveyors, miners, architects, engineers, and planners to understand their subject in greater detail. Located in Dunedin’s Warehouse Precinct, Areo sits along side a number of hi- tech companies developing 3D tools for use in animation/visualisation (arl.co.nz) and TV/Film (nhnz.tv).
