About Arhiv Republike Slovenije / Archives of the Republic of Slovenia
In the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, which is the central and largest archival institution in the country, we perform the tasks of the state archives. We are a body within the Ministry of Culture. New digital technologies enable opportunities to improve and increase efficiency in all areas of our daily operations. Concepts such as digitization, digitalization, virtualization, digital transformation, artificial intelligence are entering our environment. Accordingly, the professional work processes in the Slovenian public archives service are also changing radically. We are successful in tackling the challenges of digitization of basic archival processes within the project of establishing a Slovenian electronic archive (project e-ARH.si: ESS 2016–2020), the basic goal of which is to preserve the digital cultural heritage for us and our descendants. The Slovenian Public Archives Service consists of seven archives, from the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia and six regional archives participating in the project: Provincial Archives of Maribor, Provincial Archives of Koper, Provincial Archives of Nova Gorica, Provincial Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, Historical Archives of Ljubljana, the Historical Archives of Celje and the Historical Archives of Ptuj. The project for the development of the Slovenian electronic archive e-ARH.si is partly financed by the European Union, namely from the European Social Fund, within the Operational Program for the Implementation of European Cohesion Policy in the period 2014–2020.
