About ARIES: ARtificial Intelligence for Environment & Sustainability

We are an international group of researchers working towards generating multidisciplinary scientific knowledge from human-nature interdependence to address the most complex sustainability problems in the planet. Innovation in modelling integration is our main strength and the ARIES (ARtificial Intelligence for Environment & Sustainability) project our emblem. ARIES intends to make a collaborative and open-source platform for interoperable models and data, based on the k.LAB technology: an AI-powered and web-accessible software building for the first time new knowledge from the integration of the existing one. Besides ecosystem services, we also tackle natural capital accounting, food security, spatial planning, and renewable energy. The development of ARIES is hosted by the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). BC3 is a BERC, Basque Excellence Research Centre, based in the Basque Country (Spain), which aims to contribute to long-term research on the causes and consequences of climate change in order to foster the creation of knowledge in this multidisciplinary science.
