About Arisen Women Foundation
Arisen Women Foundation is a women-led non-profit organization based in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. Arisen Women Foundation was founded in 2001 and became a registered non-profit organization on 28 February 2002. We provide essential home-based care, rehabilitation, chronic disease support, and educational programs to underserved communities — driven by our motto: “From the womb to the tomb.” Our mission is to empower women to become pillars of their households and communities. We do this by offering home-based care training, enabling women to gain stable income and pursue further education. Many go on to become qualified health professionals, social workers, or business leaders. We serve with compassion through: Free home-based care assessments and support for chronic illnesses (diabetes, HIV/AIDS, TB, bedridden patients, pregnancy care, etc.) Community screenings for household health risks (water, hygiene, electricity, and environment) Collaborations with clinics and hospitals to reduce overcrowding and prevent disease spread Feeding scheme serving 300+ children in New Woodlands, Monday to Friday After-school tutoring in core subjects (Math's, Business, Literacy) for primary and high school learners Reading programs targeting literacy gaps for ages 7–18 School readiness program for children under 5 Child and Adult psychosocial support groups taking place at community Hall, Schools and Religious Halls Youth prevention work focused on breaking cycles of gang recruitment and teenage pregnancy Girls Program where we educate young women on women’s health, reproductive health, peer pressure and hygiene. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued our home-based care services with full safety protocols in place. We believe in caring for our staff too — offering therapeutic days to promote mental and emotional wellbeing. Our work aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #10, #11, #12, #13, #15, #16, #17.
