The Diaper Bank provides diapers to children and adults through a network of more than 80 community partners including crisis nurseries, shelters, spousal abuse centers, public health departments, and senior centers. Facts you would never know........ • Approximately 7 million diapers are needed annually throughout Arizona but due to its limited financial resources, was only able to collect and distribute 14% of those requests. • Regardless of age or size, 6-10 diapers are needed daily (around $120 per month). • Public assistance is limited. Food assistance programs such as SNAP and WIC focus solely on food and nutrition, and do not cover diapers. Low income families and elderly depend upon the Diaper Bank for their supplies. For Infants and Children it’s a matter of hygiene and access to good childcare. • 1 in 3 American moms struggle with diaper needs. They often cut back on food, utilities, and other necessities to provide diapers for their babies. • To be eligible to attend daycare programs, parents are often required to supply diapers for their children. For Adults it is a matter of dignity and the opportunity to participate fully in life. • 25% of diapers collected and distributed by the Diaper Bank are for adult incontinence needs. • According to the National Association for Continence “More than half of all residents in nursing homes are incontinent and it is the second leading cause of institutionalization.”
