About Arkansas Teacher Corps

The Arkansas Teacher Corps (ATC) is an educational non-profit teacher preparation program housed within the University of Arkansas Department of Educational Reform that recruits, trains, and supports exceptional, social justice-oriented individuals to serve as teachers for Arkansas students who need them the most. How the Fellowship Works ATC teaching Fellows are placed in critical needs areas of Arkansas (areas that suffer from systemic geographic and subject-based teacher shortages)) and serve as full time classroom teachers (k-12) for three years. Through ATC's teacher training and development program Fellows are granted a standard 5 year teaching license, earn a teaching salary (per district schedules), potentially receive stipend support (totaling $5k over three years), are subject to other various incentives offered by state and federal programs, are coached and supported as they teach, and are given the opportunity to affect systemic change on a daily basis. Who Can Join Fellowships are available to individuals from all majors and backgrounds; please visit www.arkansasteachercorps.org/apply to complete an application. Teacher Development Outcomes ATC Fellows will be supported over three years to develop their knowledge, skills, and mindsets in four key areas: > Critical Consciousness > Rigorous, Responsive Instruction > Authentic, Reciprocal Relationships > Systemic Change The Arkansas Teacher Corps aims to: > recruit excellent, passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds > train them to be rigorous, culturally responsive classroom teachers > place them to teach for three years or more in a high-need school > provide unparalleled, transformational teacher development and coaching > support Fellows in completing all requirements for a standard teaching license
