About Armaceutica
CANCER Since 2018 Armaceutica has been repurposing a malaria drug called pyronaridine (PND) to treat certain types of cancer. Pyronaridine offers the potential advantage over chemotherapies which generally produce serious side effects. “To date no serious toxicities have been reported for pyronaridine.” Clinical studies on patients with leukemia (AML and ALL) and breast cancer (triple negative) in East Africa, West Africa, and Southeast Asia. Pyronaridine is a well-tolerated drug has been used in Asia for the treatment of malaria as a single agent since the early 1980s. A combination pyronaridine / artesunate therapy is approved for malaria in Korea and many countries Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa where it is widely prescribed and administered to adults and children. The pyronaridine-containing therapy has received a positive scientific opinion under article 58 from the European Medicine’s Agency (EMA). The World Health Organization (WHO) has added the therapy to its Model List of Essential Medicines (EML).
