About Art & Antique Dealers League of America
Founded in 1926 as an offshoot of the Antique Dealers Luncheon Club, the Art and Antique Dealers League of America (AADLA) has been at the heart of the American art and antiques trade for nearly a century. Originally formed at the Madison Hotel in New York City under the name the Antique and Decorative Arts League, the organization officially became the AADLA in 1942 to better reflect its expanding scope across all artistic disciplines. In 1935, the League helped establish C.I.N.O.A., the international confederation of dealer associations, thereby reinforcing its global perspective and its commitment to shared standards of quality and trust. AADLA members are more than dealers—they are researchers, restorers, and storytellers who utilize expertise in all aspects of their business and value transparency with their clients. As Co-President Clinton Howell notes, “Dealers have continually been upping their game—looking harder for rare items, restoring with the top restorers in the world, researching, when possible, far beyond simple descriptions.” Today, the League continues to evolve with its members and audience. Through virtual shows, community initiatives, and The League Journal, the AADLA remains a vibrant platform for sharing knowledge, celebrating material culture, and building trust between dealers, collectors, and the public. It is a League built on history, but focused on what’s next. The League represents over 70 members in 80 fields of expertise. Check out our full list of members on our website!
