About Art Department
The original Art Department was founded in 1987 by John McArthur, a talented designer and Art Center alum who brought high-quality, agency-level creative to local businesses with a personal touch. With support from his wife, a Disney animation artist, and help from his kids, and staff over the years, the studio became a trusted partner for both startups and established clients, including NASA, Amgen, and Ford. Sean McArthur, John's son, got his start in the family business, doing product illustration, graphic design, web development, and print. He later spent 20+ years in the pro audio world, working for Apogee Electronics and collaborating with brands like Apple, Avid, Sennheiser, Neumann, and Warm Audio. A lifelong creative and musician, Sean brings a mix of design expertise and real-world insight to every project.
