About Art Therapy Studio
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for all people through art therapy. The Art Therapy Studio is the oldest expressive arts therapy program of its kind in the country. Since its inception in 1967, our programs have been developed around the philosophy that art making is central to healing and wellness. In the safe, creative space of the studio, a person is invited, guided, and encouraged by the highly trained, credentialed art therapists to rediscover him or herself through the art making process. Our Programs • Help people cope with change after a traumatic accident. • Help people who have had a stroke express themselves without words. • Provide focus and a way to find peace for those with spinal cord injuries. • Provide control and a sense of self to people with multiple sclerosis. • Teach new skills and enrich the lives of people with special needs. We offer art therapy in the form of in-patient hospital services, on-site services at area agencies, employee wellness programs, professional education workshops, and the “Discover the Artist Within You” community classes. All programs use the creative process of making art to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals.
