About Artillery Residency
Artillery Residency is an independent arts organization that supports the creation and dissemination of contemporary art through its art residency program. Artillery provides a temporary residence for invited artists to conduct research and produce work. The residency is a 1920's bungalow located in the Historic Kenwood neighborhood of St. Petersburg, Florida. Known as the "Neighborhood of the Arts,” Kenwood has an active Artist Enclave, where local artists contribute to community programming throughout the year. St. Petersburg, nicknamed the “Sunshine City” or simply “The Burg,” is home to a beautiful natural landscape, located on a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. In addition, St. Pete has a thriving local art scene consisting of a diverse array of museums, collectives, art organizations, festivals, and galleries. From the Founders David McCauley and Liliana Beltran: David McCauley is an artist and founder of Miami's Laundromat Art Space, Rise Up Gallery and is Co-Director of Void Projects. Liliana Beltran is the founder and Executive Director of Dropz Galeria in Sāo Paulo, Bossa Gallery in Miami Design District, and Independent Curator . Our mission is to amplify dynamic artistic practices that engage complex social issues, inspire individual transformation, and inform collective action. We celebrate diversity, inclusion, and access to the arts. We recognize the importance of intersectionality to acknowledge and celebrate our differences, including women, immigrants, people with disabilities, BIPOC, and the LGBTQ+ community.
