About Ashling Park Estate
Ashling Park is a 50 acre estate in the charming hamlet of West Ashling, West Sussex. It’s a delightful place to call home, with the rolling South Downs on the doorstep and the sea just minutes away. After living here for more than 20 years the Gardner family decided it’s such a great place to rest and play, why not work here, too? The hay meadow was promptly converted into a vineyard and the rest, as they say, is alchemy – because as ideas go, it was pure gold. Ashling Park Estate has to be one of the luckiest places in the whole of the South Downs. Our loamy soil and sheltered position provide the perfect environment for growing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier – the holy trinity of sparkling wine grapes. We have two vineyards in Sussex which span 33 acres, yield over 80 tonnes of grapes and produce 60k bottles of English sparkling wine a year. To supervise the magical transformation from vine to wine we have secured the services of Dermot Sugrue, one of the most talented (and award-winning) wine makers in the industry if not the whole world. Now with all that going for it, haven’t you just got to try it? Our Cuvée is Decanter gold and Wine GB gold award winning plus the 2020 WineGB Trophy winner for the best Cuvée NV in the UK. Our sparkling Rosé was also awarded the trophy for the best sparkling Rosé in the UK and on top of that, our Cuvée also received the trophy for the best regional wine in the South East and recently listed in Decanter magazine as highly recommended. It’s an exciting time for us here right now, in response to the demand for wine tourism, a grand new tasting room and five luxury accommodation lodges (designed by William Hardie of Channel 4’s Amazing Spaces) overlooking the vineyard within the grounds of our estate will open early 2021. So we’re looking forward to opening our doors for vineyard tours, wine tastings and overnight stays in the very near future. Keep up to date with progress on our website.
