About Ashstone Consulting

Darren Avery and Jonathan Carton founded Ashstone Consulting in 2024. Our story begins in the public sector, where we have worked for over two decades. During this time we have delivered a variety of projects from process improvements, to infrastructure, to digital implementation. We’ve also had to deal with numerous challenges including adapting to reduced funding and maintaining sustainable budgets, growth in demand outstripping capacity, and workforce concerns. We’ve worked in a variety of areas of public sector including Libraries, Adult Social Care and IT, and one thing which has really struck us is how common and recurring these issues seem to be. We used to joke that if you work in the same organisation for a few years, you’d see the same projects start up again and again – but it seems the same can be said of the challenges the organisation seeks to overcome. While the context might change, very often at their core it’s the same problems being faced over and over… We want to try and break this cycle. We founded the company with three core values: 1. Share knowledge of what works (and what doesn’t), so that you don’t waste time and resources trying to fix the wrong things. 2. Deliver change quickly and efficiently – getting your organisation where it needs to be as swiftly as possible. 3. Spread awareness of how PMO’s can help your organisation from falling into the same traps.
