About Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC)

The Amateur Golf Confederation of Asia was formed in 1963 at a meeting of three countries – Japan, the Philippines and Chinese Taipei – to run the Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship’s Nomura Cup. Since then, the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), as it was re-named, has become a prominent organisation in world golf and is responsible for running the major international amateur championships in the region and promoting golf. Today, the APGC is the representative body for 47 male and female national golf associations, stretching from the Middle East to Southeast Asia and to Oceania. As well as acting as the hosting partner for major amateur events in the region, the APGC supports member organisations in the development of golf in their respective countries. The APGC also works to ensure adherence to the Rules of Golf as approved by The R&A, and partners with The Masters Tournament and the International Golf Federation in the promotion of golf. In addition to the APGC Junior Championships and APGC Senior Championships, the APGC partners with The R&A and Masters Tournament to stage the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, and with The R&A to stage the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific. Under the auspices of the APGC there are also Asia-Pacific team events for men (Nomura Cup, biennial) and women (Queen Sirikit Cup, annual). In conjunction with the European Golf Association (EGA), the APGC also conducts the Bonallack Trophy and Patsy Hankins Trophy, Ryder Cup-style match play events contested between elite male and female amateurs.
