About Asian American Progressive Student Union

The Asian American Progressive Student Union is an organization that provides a space for student leaders to unite under the banner of fighting racism and encouraging intersectionality in the Asian American community. We aim to address racism within the Asian American community and build alliances with other people of color.AAPSU stands in solidarity with other communities of color. We will create networks with other minority groups and produce translated educational resources and workshops to combat racism, colorism, and anti-blackness in our community. We aim to support educational equity. AAPSU is committed to racially diverse and accessible education for all. We support policies like affirmative action that help victims of systemic racism earn educational opportunities. In MCPS, we will support the boundary study and its goal to create diverse and equitable school districts. We aim to advocate for Asian American rights and community development. AAPSU will combat anti-Asian sentiment through anti-hate initiatives and promote awareness of Asian American history in and outside of schools through curriculum changes, resource development, and workshops. We aim to promote Asian American civic engagement. AAPSU will encourage Asian American participation in politics by promoting voter registration and providing a platform for progressive Asian American candidates.
