About ASICI
The Interprofessional Association of the Iberian Pig (ASICI) is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 and recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture in 1999. It represents farmers and producers in the Iberian sector equally. ASICI brings together 18,257 livestock farms, 62 slaughterhouses, and 1,051 companies across 18 Autonomous Regions in Spain and in Portugal. In 2023, it identified over 14 million Ibérico hams and shoulders. ASICI ensures authenticity, quality, and traceability through the Quality Standard, promoting national and international recognition of Iberian products. The association is currently running the "Awaken your Ibérico Sense" campaign, supported by the EU through the "Enjoy, it's from Europe" program and the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, positioning Ibérico Ham in the UK and Japan as a high-quality, sustainable, and deeply traditional European product. The organization has become a key tool in maintaining the global reputation of the Iberian sector as a symbol of gastronomic excellence, environmental awareness, and rural life generation.
