About Assistance and Academic Exploratory Club of Ft. Wayne
Our mission is to organize together local students in order to: 1. Assist local marginalized communities in need and help develop our community, 2. To educate and assist our students in their specialized needs, 3. And to explore underrepresented academic topics with our students. Our organization largely comprises local students with a passion to learn and help the community, whom we assist in their academic and non-academic needs. This entails activates such as tutoring math, science, and writing, but also teaching household skills and language literacy. We also organize group volunteering events at local nonprofits that focus on assisting needy communities in Northeastern Indiana. The AnAEC first sprouted in the spring and summer of 2023, yet not official nor named. While still very small, intimate, and unfounded, we discovered a passion for learning with our students. Spring/Summer 2023: 2-4 participants (Fell of in early fall 2023 sadly) Towards the beginning of the spring 2024 semester, the AnAEC began to take its first official steps. We began to gather some of the students in order to help out other needy communities, and from that point on, it became part of our organizations mission to give our time back to the community. 2023-24 School year: 6~ participants The summer of 2024 saw the most change with our organization. We began to set more of our mission and records into stone, and have made connections with community organizers. This is when we finally titled ourselves the AnAEC, or the “Assistance & Academic Exploratory Club”. 2024-25 School year: 10+ participants (and growing!) Currently, our main contributors are Ezra Caplinger (co-founder), Megan Trujillo (co-founder), Ka Lay (co-founder), and Esmerelda Macias (outreach coordinator)! Thank you for your continued support!
