About Assistance League of the Eastside
Our community-based, philanthropic programs make a positive difference in the lives of children and adults touched by hardship or violence. OPERATION SCHOOL BELL® Financial hardship can affect any family. We help students in need right here in our community by holding shopping events at Fred Meyer stores and inviting children pre-selected by personnel from local school districts. Our funds let these kids shop for new clothes, shoes, and coats. It is our belief that new school clothing will contribute to a child’s self-esteem and successful school experience. STARTING OVER SUPPORT Domestic violence is a human rights issue. We believe that everyone deserves to live in an environment where they feel safe from harm, free from oppression, and empowered to reach their full potential. We provide baskets filled with more than 80 household items to local shelters so families fleeing domestic abuse can rebuild their lives in safety. We also host holiday celebrations and social events that lend a sense of community and support. It is our desire to help women find the inner strength and courage to create new beginnings for themselves and their families. ASSAULT SURVIVOR KITS® Thousands of women, men, and children are assaulted in the State of Washington each year. When survivors are treated at hospitals, their clothing is often taken by law enforcement for use as evidence. Assistance League of the Eastside works with hospitals throughout the state to provide essential care items and new clothing that can be worn home after treatment. We strive to restore dignity at a time when these individuals are most in need of comfort and security. HELP4HOMELESS Homelessness is an overwhelming life circumstance. The number of women and children that do not have shelter continues to grow in our community. In response, Assistance League of the Eastside provides local shelters with the personal care items needed during the transition from dependence to independence.
