At AECEA, we are dedicated to advancing the profession of early childhood educators in Alberta. Our mission is to amplify the voices of early childhood educators (ECEs) by advocating for better wages and working conditions, comprehensive system supports, and higher educational standards. Through our activities, we aim to transform Alberta’s early learning and child care (ELCC) workforce into a recognized profession. We envision an early learning and child care sector where well-qualified, well-compensated ECEs are respected as professionals, valued for their important work, and supported in providing high-quality child care for Alberta’s children and families. We advocate for the recognition, professionalization, and empowerment of ECEs by: Influencing Policy: Collaborating with government and stakeholders to shape policies that enhance early learning environments and promote the ELCC workforce. Building Community: Creating a vibrant network of ECE professionals to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices. Advancing Education and Professional Development: Linking ECEs to publicly funded post-secondary institutions, as well as evidence-informed resources and workshops. Our work is rooted in the belief that early childhood education is foundational to lifelong learning and well-being.
