About Associazione IROKO

IROKO is a Charity founded in 1998 with the principal aim of protecting and improving the conditions of life of disadvantaged persons, with special attention to victims of trafficking and of gender based violence. Iroko provides direct services like shelter, employment orientation and financial support to sex trafficking victims, as well as general assistance, psychological counselling, and cultural mediation for migrants generally, vocational training and assistance in searching for employment and housing, Italian language courses and the creation of employment opportunities. Iroko has 2 shelters where it also offers emergency, short-term accommodation to women and children in need. Iroko’s mission is to create and reinforce a culture of human rights and to promote solidarity among different peoples, cultures and life experiences. Iroko fights against every form of exclusion and marginalization, against racism and xenophobia, by actively promoting a more human, equal and democratic society. IROKO fights to eliminate all forms of violence against women and children, with special attention to the elimination of the trafficking and exploitation of women and children in prostitution and in other areas. IROKO also fights to eradicate all forms of human oppression and the denial of the Human Rights of peoples. Iroko is registered in the Turin Municipal Council Registry of Non Profit Organizations and in the Regional Council Registry of Non Profit Organizations. Iroko is also a member of the Coordinamento interregionale Antitratta, which operates through the Anti-trafficking platform, and the Coordinamento Cittadini contro la Violenza alle Donne (CCCVD) in Turin.
