AstaReal AB was founded in 1989 in Sweden. As a spin-off, it proudly carried forward the legacy of the esteemed Swedish Uppsala University. By combining the academic excellence with an entrepreneurial spirit, AstaReal team succeeded to launch the first ever human dietary supplement containing microalgae-derived natural astaxanthin under the brand name Astaxin® in 1995. Health benefits of astaxanthin, as a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory molecule from microalgae have been widely investigated in healthy aging area, including skin, muscles, brain, eyes, immune, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and reproductive health, and more. A growing body of evidence show that both humans and animals alike could potentially benefit from astaxanthin supplementation.
