About Aster Care

Aster Care works closely with the Continuing Health Care teams in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas to provide a 24 hour service, enabling those with long term conditions to confidently remain living at home. This same high quality service is also availble to people who self-fund their care or receive a Personal Budget. Our aim is to provide a personalised, risk averse service that focuses on what the person can do, rather than what they can't, giving the person a chance to live with their condition, rather than be dominated by it. To provide this service, Aster Care will only provide care visits for 4 or more hours at a time, supporting those who cannot be left alone either during the day or night, or both if required. We do not provide or support short 'pop-in visits' of 15, 30 minutes or 1 hour, knowing that this delivery of care often leaves people more isolated and more lonely whilst a small aspect of their care is carried out. Because Aster Care staff spend long periods of time with the individual, personal care can be carried out in an unhurried manner, the administration of medication can be carried out safely, and individuals can access the community and participate in the fun things they would usually enjoy.
