About Atelier de France
The mission of Atelier de France is to promote the knowledge of the hidden techniques of traditional upholstery, as well as to be an exclusive purveyor of organic and fully recyclable upholstered furniture. By traditional we mean from the 15th century through the first half of the 20th century. These techniques, always concealed by the application of show coverings (the fabric) have their intrinsic place in history for they follow and adapt themselves to the development of furniture design throughout the centuries. Atelier de Frances’ goal is to demonstrate these techniques through an extensive picture library collected over the past twenty two years, and through a concise pictorial presentation of any piece of furniture that you, or any potential client may bring to our workshop. The authenticity of these methods can be found in various written theoretical manual works, some of them dating back to 1771 such as the Diderot & d’Alembert Encyclopedia.
