About Athens Medical Grοup (Iatriko Kentro Athinon)
Athens Medical Group was founded in 1984 by Dr. G. Apostolopoulos as a response to the urgent need for provision of high quality medical services in Greece. Athens Medical Group is listed on the Athens Stock Exchange since 1991 and participates in all majors indexes of the Stock Market. The Group offers primary and secondary high quality healthcare services and is the market leader in the Greek Healthcare Market and the region of S.E. Europe. In Greece the Group owns and operates 8 hospital units in total offering top quality healthcare services totalling 1,200 patient beds, 2,900 full time employees, and a network of 2,800 highly respected physicians. Seven of hospital units are located in the greater Athens metropolitan area: Maroussi Clinic, Athens Paediatric Center, the new Maternity Clinic “Gaia” in Maroussi, Psychico Clinic, Paleo Faliro Clinic, Daphni Clinic, Peristeri Clinic. The eighth hospital, the Interbalkan European Medical Center is located in the Northern part of Greece, Thessaloniki, and is considered to be the “most contemporary hospital facility in Europe” (as reported by Medical School, Imperial College, UK). Additionally, the Group, on a primary care level, manages a nationwide network of 40 diagnostic centers, aiming at offering vertically integrated healthcare services in the Greek territory. On an international level, the Group through its 100% subsidiary “Medsana Bucharest Medical Centre” owns and operates three diagnostic centers in Romania and is in the process of establishing a modern private hospital of approximately 150 beds. Furthermore, as the SE European region is a top priority for the group, it has already established representation offices in a number of countries in the region aiming at securing first mover’s advantage in any developments in the health care sector.
