Painful neuroma is a hidden epidemic. Atraxon Biotech brings a practical, surgical solution, in treating and preventing painful neuroma formation using biodegradable implants.. Intentionally (surgery) or accidentally trauma to a nerve can lead to a painful neuroma in every fourth patient. Damaged nerves form a tangled, hypersensitive mass, without the possibility to resolve spontaneously. Current treatments are time-consuming, costly and require a neuro- or plastic surgeon. Our biodegradable Y- and U-cassettes are designed to treat or prevent neuroma formation after nerve injury or amputation. The nerve end(s) can be stabilized in the cassette, including a piece of nerve autograft, which attracts and guides axons and prevents the neuroma formation. This results in eliminating pain, prevention of opioids overuse, better quality of life, better rehabilitation and faster return to work. The cassettes are for use by neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, and trauma surgeons, do not require complex microsurgical techniques and are applicable in trauma, post-amputation, or for the treatment of iatrogenic nerve injury.
