About Attune & Embody Psychotherapy LCSW
Our practice is broadly focused on the task of embodiment and exploring the joys and challenges of having a human body. Often, this means working at the intersections of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability and chronic illness, belief systems, and other aspects of our identities. This process often involves examining the effects of past trauma, exploring our immediate social environments, and addressing the impact of cultural and political climates on our day-to-day experiences and worldview. Existential psychotherapy asserts that our lives coalesce and take shape around the meaning we ourselves make of our lived experiences. Often, we experience discrimination because both our bodies and identities are stigmatized; the principles and practice of feminist psychotherapy is predicated on the belief that many of us do not have the luxury of living an apolitical life when we ourselves (and our largerAt Attune & Embody Psychotherapy, our therapists are trained in several modalities; our therapists are trained and experienced in psychodynamic psychotherapy, enabling us to identify and address the root causes of many issues, while also drawing upon cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches in order to achieve symptom relief. We may draw upon psychedelic therapy, in partnership with Journey Clinical, to address many of the symptoms of PTSD, suicidal ideation, or treatment-resistant depression and anxiety. Our practice - including both clinicians and our administrative staff - recognize the significant impact of trauma on individuals and communities and are highly trained in trauma-informed practices. Our services are rooted in anti-oppressive frameworks. We recognize that oppressive structures exist and are dedicated to dismantling them through our clinical work and community service efforts. We aim to make our services accessible by accepting insurance and offering a sliding scale.
